Diet review (November and December)

Oct-November: High carb diet
http://foodintolerancediet.blogspot.ca/2013/11/diet-november.html
New symptoms:
night urination, itchiness
stomach pain (psyllium?)
more sensitive to high thiol (can't tolerate even 1 curcumin)
pumpkin seeds = joint pain

December plan:

I think the high carb diet may have caused SIBO. I have all the symptoms. Carbs/fiber feeds bad bacteria. Every time I eat fiber/carbs, sweet potato and juice now, I get stomach pain/discomfort. I will reduce carbs and go back on my low carb diet, but I need to avoid ketosis or I'll have headaches.

SIBO: Carbs/fiber gives you symptoms.
Treatment:
Remove foods irritants that feed bacteria:  SCD, low startch/carbs/sugar
Improve digestion motility:  Don't eat frequent meals, but eat every 3-5 hours, drink ginger tea
Increase stomach enzymes:  Italian herbs/ginger
Kill bacteria/yeast = cinnamon, peppermint (take with meals 3x day)
6 weeks later, reintroduce good bacteria = probiotics

Here is what I did when I found out I had SIBO about a year ago:
supplements:
  • ADP oil of oregano, garlic pill + 1-2 tsp cinnamon daily for 6-8 weeks
  • bone broth every day
  • digestive enzymes + betaine HCL the first 6 months
  • L-glutamine on and off (but more consistently at the beginning)
  • started fermented cold liver oil 3 months ago
  • probiotics (started after 1-2 months, but took S. Boulardii while taking herbal antibiotics)
diet (modified GAPS, low-FODMAP, low-carb diet):
  • meat, poultry, fish, eggs
  • fats: ghee, coconut oil, butter, EVOO (couldn't do butter for a while, only ghee, but I now tolerate it)
  • limited amount of vegetables (always thoroughly cooked, pureed and low-FODMAP at the beginning; I can now tolerate 1-2 cups of almost any kind of vegetables per meal)
  • I avoid nuts, fruits, starchy vegetables, coconut flour, dairy and sugar
other:
  • stress management (belly breathing and regular breaks)
I manage to stay symptom-free most of the time if I stick to my SIBO plan!

DIET:
low carb, low FODMAP http://www.eat-real-food-paleodietitian.com/paleo-diet-and-fodmap.html

I will increase fats, remove all fruits and sweet potato for the next few days, to see if I have relief.

SUPP

HERBS
cinnamon
peppermint

MY CONCERN:

How safe will be new diet be in the presence of SIBO??
Finally, in the presence of SIBO, large quantities of fat can increase the translocation of these harmful bacteria from the lumen into systemic circulation by the same mechanism that allows fat-soluble vitamins and minerals to cross through the gut wall.  http://syontix.com/small-intestinal-bacterial-overgrowth-part-six-dietary-causes-of-impaired-intestinal-movement-and-inflammation/
