Update

1. Removing all coconut products eliminated my chest pain. Maybe I have a daily threshold?

2. I still wake up to urinate at night and have headaches but slowly improving after eliminating the foods below.

3. I removed avocado, grapes, banana, grapefruit and now all fruits. I need to test what fruits is causing symptoms and at what quantity?

4. Noticed grapefruit causes itchy skin depending on dosage. So removed it.

5. Noticed grapes or avocado increases headaches on dosage. Removed them.

Waking up at night to urinate

Since the 12-14th, I wake up at night to pee and it disturbs my sleep. I'm having headaches since the 22nd.

What causes this new frequent urge to urinate? Could my diet change from low to high carb be a factor?

I found this

Coconut milk causing headaches and chest pain?

I had chest pain and headache yesterday and this morning. Only thing different I can think of was more coconut milk and oil.

I found this:

4 day rotation still planning

I'm struggling coming up with my list since I had an intolerance flare up and felt extremely fatigue for a few days. I suspect potatoes or high sulfur threshold but unsure. I removed them and feeling better.

Problem 1: I rarely eat just one type of veggie in one meal but mix at least 2 or 3 like zucchini and carrots. So I find it hard to come up with a 4 day plan with such limitations.

Problem 2. How much protein and nutrients am I having enough?

Problem 3: I still haven't eaten pumpkin or sunflower seeds since elimination but haven't had support or a plan to reintroduce them.

Goal: 9 different meals for 3 days

9 different fruits, stratches, vegetable, meats/alternatives, and fat.

Looking for multivitamins

Here are options I found:

Concerns:
I don't do well with ascorbic C, except the current vit C brand I have.
Vitamin A seems high, I'm already taking cod liver oil.

Concerns:
Not enough info on the form of some vitamins (eg: it just says Vit B12... is it methyl form?)

Food allergy test 2012

Name of test: Meridian Valley Labs (E95 Basic Food Panel)
Cost: $100-200
Date: February 2012 (Collected on 2/22, reported 3/5. It took 13 days to get my results.)
Accuracy of test: 3/5
Pros: I found I'm intolerant to alfalfa, and I was eating it almost daily! That was useful and it was accurate.
Cons: Many known foods intolerances like dairy, eggs, and grains didn't show up on the test. The naturopathic doctor said "your mercury levels may skew the results. You have unusual allergies like honey. Have you traveled a lot?"

Bottom line: Somewhat useful but can't be relied upon it and needs to be confirmed with challenge tests. Intolerances are more tricky than allergies!

Common allergens/exclusion of problematic foods: (may be allergic, best to avoid, or to test in a challenge meal):

Eggs
Peanuts
Shellfish
Chocolate
Melons

Purine foods (red meat, organ meats, soups and broths from it, yeast, baked goods, alcohol of any form.)

Nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant)

Figs, dates, raisins

Phase 1 liver metabolism accelerators (burnt, smoked, crispy foods, dark green leafy vegetables, lots of carotene)

Phase 1 liver metabolism blockers (grapefruit, oregano, niacinamide)

High copper foods (liver, nuts/seeds, beans, barley, tofu and all soy products)
Excess copper causes fatigue, poor memory, spaced out, emotional states.)
Mercury toxic folks retain copper. Zinc 50mg/day with meals competes with copper. Cut down a bit, take zinc, drink lots of water.

Feingold (phenols and salicylates)
-Affects 1 in 5 mercury toxic folks
-Toxic liver unable to process
-Red cheeks/ears, dark circle under the eyes, fatigue/hyper, increased allergy, ADD.
-Avoid for 1-2 weeks

Grapes
Apples
Berries
Almonds
Pickles
Apple cider
Apricots
All cherries
Plums
Peaches
Tomatoes
Tea
Rose hips
Cloves
Paprika
Oranges
Bell peppers
Raisins

Phytate and Phytic acids:
"In the context of a diet rich in calcium, vitamin D, vitamin A, vitamin C, good fats and lacto-fermented foods, most people will do fine on an estimated 400-800 mg per day. For those suffering from tooth decay, bone loss or mineral deficiencies, total estimated phytate content of 150-400 mg would be advised. For children under age six, pregnant women or those with serious illnesses, it is best to consume a diet as low in phytic acid as possible.
In practical terms, this means properly preparing phytate-rich foods to reduce at least a portion of the phytate content, and restricting their consumption to two or three servings per day. Daily consumption of one or two slices of genuine sourdough bread, a handful of nuts, and one serving of properly prepared oatmeal, pancakes, brown rice or beans should not pose any problems in the context of a nutrient-dense diet. Problems arise when whole grains and beans become the major dietary sources of calories— when every meal contains more than one whole grain product or when over-reliance is placed on nuts or legumes. Unfermented soy products, extruded whole grain cereals, rice cakes, baked granola, raw muesli and other high-phytate foods should be strictly avoided."

Suspects #1: Nightshades and seeds
I suspect seeds and potatoes/nightshades causing headaches.

Reasons for seeds:
High copper?
Phytic acid? http://www.westonaprice.org/food-features/living-with-phytic-acid

Other?

Test #1: Nightshade and seed exclusion

(Decided to postpone challenge meal until this plan is reviewed by a dietitian.. So no pumpkin so far!)

Day 1-4: Exclusion (Sat 5th to Tues 8th)
Day 5: Challenge (Wednesday 9th)
Test: Only pumpkin seeds products (powder, seeds).
Dosage: 3 scoops (30g) powder and to 1-2 tbs seeds, morning and lunch.
Day 6-7: Monitor reactions. (2 days)
End of test: Friday 11th night.

Note any symptoms:

Avoid:
Flaxseeds and flax oil
Pumpkin seeds of all forms
Sunflower seeds
Potato products

Keep:
Black seed oil

Replacements:

Pumpkin seed powder = 30g protein
Other seeds 2tbs = 10g, 150cal

Avocado
Sweet potato
Beets
Need more protein source?

Avocado 4g
Artichoke 3-4g
100g Turkey 17g

Headache solved: I was ketogenic yesterday

Tested ketone urine and it was higher than normal. Headache was partly from undereating. I ate potato chips and grapes last night and woke up without a headache today. Some Stomach discomfort. Hives on hips, and knuckle remaining. Focus is low. Resuming somewhat normal diet today. No turkey at night, suspect causing hives in large amounts.

22nd Jan 2014:
Main concerns:
-Get a diet that I can tolerate to heal SIBO and have enough nutrition and gain weight.

Main questions before meal planning:

  1. -Is it low FP/GI? (Fermentation Potential). SIBO friendly based on "Low fermentation potential" foods plan from Dr Norman Robillard. I have the book on Kindle, you can refer the list of foods that are "low FP" and "low GI".   http://digestivehealthinstitute.org/2012/08/sibo-diet-and-digestive-health/  The Fast Tact approach uses the Fermentation Potential to determine how much of each food is safe amount to consume.
  2. Is it low sulfur? no sulphur foods high in thiols like dairy, brocooli, cabbage, onions, quinoa, garlic, etc. Please see a partial list here: http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/chelationnetwork/food/high-sulfur-sulphur-food-list/
  3. Am I allergic/intolerant to it? (please see my allergy list below)
  4. Is it balanced according to Chinese food medicine (Yin/Yang) ? I am very yin "cold" and need more yang "hot" foods.  Please see explanation here: https://www.acufinder.com/Acupuncture+Information/Detail/Yin-Yang+Balance+and+Food+Choice

Food intolerances 2012-early 2013

FOOD ALLERGY: RED BEEF

(Things that didn’t show in allergy tests):

ALL THESE ARE OK BUT IN VERY SMALL QUANTITIES

Nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, etc.)
Cause eczema or stomach pain
Citrus fruits including strawberries, lemon, etc -
Cause acne or pus in gums, and other inflammation, foot/hand swelling
vitamin C (buffered from naturopath, and NOW brand) -
Causes HUGE stomach pain

no sulphur foods high in thiols like brocooli, cabbage, onions, quinoa, garlic, etc, causes all symptoms above. Please see a partial list here: http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/chelationnetwork/food/high-sulfur-sulphur-food-list/

no chicken/eggs, but OK in small quantity (gives me eczema and itchy skin) -
Thyme or basil causes itchiness (OK now.)
NO BREADS - 2 barley bread makes me tired, etc = fatigue
oat bran, causes constipation... I may try rolled oats
Grains like brown rice and dairy are problematic according to dietitians and my experience = stomach pain
No seafood due to mercury
Possible Candida issues - pls look for candida friendly diet (that means less fruits or low sugar)

THIS IS NOT A FULL LIST....PLEASE REFER TO MY FOOD ALLERGY TEST FROM DR. RAM 2012. Please ignore the low reaction foods on the test, the doctor say its inaccurate due to mercury skewed results. Just pay attention to the allergic foods.
http://foodintolerancediet.blogspot.ca/2013/10/food-allergy-test-2012.html

Food intolerances summer 2013

Eliminating the above for a few months greatly improved my symptoms, I could even test and eat new foods that I'm normally allergic too and was so happy.

Thyme/italian herbs OK daily
Chicken OK sometimes
Goat cheese, barley bread, Butter oil  OK but on tiny amounts
Potato chips was OK daily, organic potatoes too, in moderate amount (No longer OK)
Nuts, seeds, OK daily (small quantities, I think)

My average diet (mostly ketogenic/low carb)

Food intolerances FLARE UP September 2013

I had red meat (top round steak organic) that may be causing me to feel sick. First I had it once, then 2 days later, I had a swollen eyelid, a chalazion, then itchy skin over a week. Then I had it 3x a week, and I went to the hospital last night sep 29th after feeling dizzy, headache and short of breath. They couldn't figure out why. The doc said "Maybe the meat caused laryngitis?". I felt better after IV fluids, went back home, but still feel awful this morning.

For example, if its a delayed allergic reaction to meat as explained on the link below, or if its a food intolerance (and not an allergy), then it wont show up in typical allergy tests. I'd rather not waste more money and energy if I can.

Example;

September overview:

8th:  Beef
10th Swollen eyes
11: leg cramp

11-19;  swollen eye reduced

19th:  Noticed chalazion

23rd:  beef  once and creatinine powder daily

25th:  itchy skin, noticed spots on my hips (hives?)

30th; changed diet, tired 2/10, head 2/10

My elimination diets after the flare up/diary
Need help with:
someone to look at my food intake, food diary, and help me manage my food
intolerance symptoms?

What's causing my symptoms? What should I eat instead?
How long does this flare up will last?
Enough calories during elimination diet?

Diet I've been eating since elimination (approx.) past few days.

Concerned I'm not eating enough on this elimination diet!

Wondering if flaxseed from last night caused symptoms. Removing flax seed powder/oil, all seeds and nuts except for almond nuts and black seed oil. Flaxseed oil shown below is replaced with black seed oil.)

I weigh 108.6lbs after eating. Lost 3 lbs! Not good.

Diet planning
Updating my diet to increase calories. Really hard without seeds, fiber and nuts....

Vegetables (as well as some fruits) are often high in insoluble fiber. While soluble fiber can be soothing for the gut, consuming large amounts of insoluble fiber when your gut is inflamed is a little bit like rubbing a wire brush against an open wound. Ouch. http://chriskresser.com/got-digestive-problems-take-it-easy-on-the-veggies
